Religious people routinely violate the rules of their faith — they eat pork, they get tattoos, they get haircuts, they work on Sundays, they wear blended fabrics, they dishonor their parents, they covet their neighbors’ possessions, they worship false idols, etc, etc, etc — it is flatly ridiculous for them to do all these things and then turn around and insist that one particular thing the Bible forbids, homosexuality, is somehow a bridge too far. It’s nothing but arbitrary and capricious.
For the law to reflect this sort of hypocritical arbitrariness is ludicrous. If Christians can violate 99% of the Bible themselves, they shouldn’t get to hide behind the other 1% when they want an excuse to get their way. This SCOTUS holding (along with Hobby Lobby and all the rest) is nothing but thinly-veiled, corrupt, conservative petty activism.
The Court’s claims to legal legitimacy grow more tragically laughable by the day.
